2023 Ferrari Daytona SP3: Ferraris are the stuff of dreams. These Italian supercars are fast, sexy, and highly exclusive, pushing the limits of performance and causing a stir wherever they go. The sensually styled Roma coupe is the most affordable, but it is still far too expensive for most people.
Daytona was a classic front-engine V12 coupé Ferrari built from 1968 to 1973. And the 2023 Ferrari Daytona SP3, the third car in Ferrari’s limited edition Icona series, bears no resemblance.
The Daytona SP3, which is powered by an 828-hp naturally aspirated V-12 mounted behind the driver, was created in the spirit of Ferrari sports prototype racers from the 1960s and 1970s. The name honours Ferrari’s one-two-three finish in the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona, “revenge” for the drubbing handed out to Maranello by Ford at Le Mans in 1966, says marketing chief Enrico Galliera with a smile.
The Daytona SP3 is built on the same chassis as the LaFerrari Aperta hypercar and is powered by an 812 Competizione engine. Only 599 will be built, and while pricing in the United States has yet to be confirmed, it costs the equivalent of $2.3 million in Italy.

The SP3 is, predictably, highly customizable for a limited-production hypercar. It comes in a variety of colours, but is a Ferrari still a Ferrari if it isn’t painted red? The colour scheme can be accented by two different racing-stripe liveries, and there are several wheel finishes and brake calliper colours to choose from. The interior can also be customised with leather or suede seats and a variety of colour options.
2023 Ferrari Daytona SP3: Engine and Performance
The Daytona SP3 is powered by the most powerful combustion engine ever used in a Ferrari road car, a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V-12 engine borrowed from the 812 Competizione and upgraded by 10 horsepower for a total of 829 horsepower. The V-12 engine produces 514 pound-feet of torque and revs to 9500 rpm. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The SP3’s monocoque tub and body panels are made of lightweight carbon fibre; Ferrari claims a dry weight of 3275 pounds. Given its weight-to-power ratio, the SP3 should be able to hit 60 mph in less than three seconds, with power going only to the rear wheels; 100 mph should be reached in less than six as the SP3 approaches its claimed 211-mph top speed. We found the handling to be delightful and engaging on our first drive. The steering is light, allowing you to drive the car with one hand while cruising around town, but it is communicative enough to inspire confidence when the roads become curvy.
