The 2023 Jaguar E-Pace is only available in the P250 SE trim level. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four 19-inch wheels; 20- and 21-inch wheels are optional. A leather-wrapped steering wheel with satin chrome shift paddles, heated 12-way front seats, a Meridian sound system, and a slew of driver-assist features like emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot assist are also standard.

Engine
The E-Pace, like most crossovers in this class, is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The standard—and only—engine in the 2023 P250 SE produces 246 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. We have yet to test an E-Pace 250 SE—we will update this section once we do—but we have tested the discontinued E-Pace 250 and E-Pace 300 Sport. During our last drive in the E-Pace, we found the automatic to be indecisive at low speeds, but we eventually discovered that the powertrain’s refined manner kept the cabin calm.
The P250 we tested in 2018 was heavier than some rivals with turbo-four engines, which is still true today. The P250 was particularly comfortable, with soft damping that absorbed road imperfections while isolating passengers. While its 20-inch wheels thudded over choppy roads, the ride quality remained consistent with the company’s luxury mission. During a comparison test with the BMW X2 and the Volvo XC40, its loose body motions made it downright playful. The Jaguar came in last in this test, but it was named the most enjoyable to drive.
