According to Taipei’s defence ministry, as many as 22 Chinese Air Force jets crossed the Taiwan Strait’s ‘median line’ on Thursday. This was a day after US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi paid a solidarity visit to the self-ruled island.
Taiwan scrambled jets on Wednesday to warn off 27 Chinese aircraft in its air defence zone, according to the island’s defence ministry. Adding that 22 of them crossed the median line separating the self-ruled island from China amid rising tensions.
China responded to Pelosi’s highest-level visit to the island in 25 years with a flurry of military drills around the island. And summoning the American ambassador in Beijing, and suspending several agricultural imports from the island.

Taiwan stated that it had dispatched aircraft and missile systems to “monitor” Chinese activities. They have done within its air defence identification zone, or ADIZ. They have recently complained about repeated Chinese air force missions in the sensitive Taiwan Strait, often in the southwestern part of ADIZ.
