Government Proposes for the match
A historic match between India and the World 11 has been proposed to India’s Board of Control for Cricket.
The Government of India has proposed to the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) that a one-off match between India and the Rest of the World be held next month to commemorate India’s 75th anniversary of independence.
According to a PTI report, the Ministry of Culture has also requested that the BCCI organise an exhibition match as part of its “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” campaign.
It remains to be seen whether the match will be granted international status by the ICC (International Cricket Council).
If the BCCI is unable to obtain the same, a 20-over match (format to be confirmed) with international players is a distinct possibility. However, player availability will undoubtedly be a concern for the BCCI, as international players rarely have time in their schedules to fit in another match.
