Samaritan: Movie Review, Cast, Story, 2022 Release Date Trailer and storyline
One distinction between film noir and more conventional crime films is that noir is more receptive to human imperfections and enjoys incorporating them into convoluted story lines. “The Samaritan” isn’t a fantastic noir, but it stays loyal to the genre and provides Samuel L. Jackson one of his strongest parts in a long time.
He plays Foley, a con guy compelled to murder his closest buddy and fellow thief. He served 25 years in jail for murder and is just getting out on parole when we meet him. He vows to himself that he will never be locked up again, and that he will not have anything to do with crime in any manner. He finds work in construction.
The film takes place in Toronto, which is not commonly associated with noir, yet noir has no geographical restrictions. Perhaps this explains the mid-Atlantic polish of a criminal leader like Xavier (Tom Wilkinson), who now has given Ethan a solid incentive to pull the con: He will murder him if he doesn’t.

Critic View on Samaritan:
Samaritan refers to a superhero who was once in Granite City’s stalwart protector. However, following a defeat, the Samaritan inexplicably vanished from his life of criminal combat. Sam (Javon “Wanna” Walton), a little child from Granite City, comes to assume that his next-door neighbour, Joe Smith (Sylvester Stallone), is this once-loved hero, and the two form an unexpected bond. Expect harsh language and many scenes of danger and violence.
Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton), 13, feels that his strange and reclusive neighbour Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is a legend hidden in plain sight. Samaritan, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, was believed killed twenty years ago in a fiery warehouse battle with his adversary, Nemesis. Most people assume Samaritan died in the fire, but other people in the city, including Sam, believe he is still alive.
With crime on the increase and the city on the verge of collapse, Sam makes it his duty to bring his neighbour out of hiding in order to preserve the city.
