In India, Nissan Motor has unveiled three new electric hybrid SUVs: the Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Juke, and Nissan Qashqai. The vehicles were unveiled for global markets, but they are also expected to arrive in India. The company stated that the X-Trail will be tested in the country and will be available in 2023. It will also assess the market for the Qashqai. Nissan Juke is also being tested at its manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu, near Chennai.
The Nissan X-Trail has two engine options. One is equipped with a 1.5L turbo petrol engine capable of producing 204bhp and 330Nm of torque. The other has a 1.5L turbo petrol engine with second-generation e-Power series hybrid tech, producing 213bhp and 500Nm of torque. It is built on the updated CMF-C crossover platform developed by the Renault-Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance.
The hybrid version of the SUV has four-wheel drive. The non-hybrid variant only has front-wheel drive. The Nissan X-Trail has three drive modes: Mud, Snow, and Gravel. The vehicle also comes with a CVT automatic transmission. This premium executive SUV will be available in 5-seat or 7-seat configurations. It will compete with vehicles such as the Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq.
The Nissan Juke
The CMF-B platform underpins the Nissan Juke SUV. It is powered by a 1.0L three-cylinder engine with 115bhp and 200Nm of torque. The engine will be available with either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch DCT with paddle shifters. Customers will receive an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a Bose audio system and speakers.
The Nissan Qashqai is powered by a 1.3L turbo petrol engine with a 12V mild hybrid system that can produce up to 270Nm of torque. It has Nissan’s V-Motion Chrome grille and boomerang-shaped matrix LED headlights. The SUV is equipped with an Xtronic CVT automatic transmission and an optional 4WD system. The SUV’s electric model features a 1.5L petrol engine and a 140kW electric motor capable of producing 156bhp.
