Nikhat Zareen & Hima Das: PM Modi hosted the Indian delegation at his residence to honour the CWG athletes. The Indian athletes put on a spectacular performance in Birmingham, winning 61 medals, including 22 gold, 16 silver, and 23 bronze.
Indian athletes expressed their delight at being recognised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their outstanding performance at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, with boxer Nikhat Zareen presenting him with her boxing gloves and sprinter Hima Das presenting him with the traditional Assamese gamocha. Modi hosted the Indian contingent at his residence on Saturday to congratulate the players.

At the Games, the star boxer and world championship gold medalist won the yellow metal in her weight category.
Hima wrote on her Twitter account, “We are overjoyed to have received blessings from our honourable Prime Minister, Shri @narendramodi Ji, in connection with the Commonwealth Games 2022. We were fortunate to present him with our traditional gamcha, wrapped in Assamese gratitude.” Champion weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, who won gold without breaking a sweat a year after her historic silver medal in Tokyo, thanked the Prime Minister for his words of encouragement.
