The narrative of Ethan Hunt is far from over. Hunt and his fearless team will embark on yet another world-saving adventure in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, which is now in production.
In addition to directing and writing the new film, Christopher McQuarrie, who previously worked on the first two Mission: Impossible films, also composed the music for it. The forthcoming movie, which stars Tom Cruise as the unrivalled international spy Ethan Hunt, is expected to test the boundaries of all the new and returning characters in every single area.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 hasn’t been given a lot of information, but what we do know teases an epic action tale that sounds like a worthy addition to the successful franchise. Continue reading for all the information that has so far been made public, including release dates, cast and character bios, filming information, and more.
The US release date for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 is currently set for July 14, 2023. The movie will also be streamable on Paramount+ 45 days following its theatrical release. Although Tom Cruise is set on giving the movie a more traditional three-month frame rather to the new format Paramount has been using with their recent movies like Scream, The Lost City, and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, the window is still subject to change.
The film’s original release date was set for July 23, 2021. The date was postponed in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, first to November 19, then to May 27, 2022, then to September 30, 2022, and eventually to the present day. I hope there won’t be any additional delays for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1.
MORE ABOUT Mission Impossible
Tom Cruise, who previously played Ethan Hunt, is the star of the ensemble. Along with Cruise, several other actors from the previous films will make appearances in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, including Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, and Frederick Schmidt.
In addition, a number of new cast members, including Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Esai Morales, Rob Delaney, Charles Parnell, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, Greg Tarzan Davis, and Cary Elwes, will join the Mission: Impossible franchise in this film.
On May 23, 2022, 14 months before the film’s scheduled release date, the first official trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 debuted online. This coincided with the release of Top Gun: Maverick, another Tom Cruise blockbuster. Fans can get their first really good look at all the thrilling action sequences, stunts, and new locations in the video, as well as the new characters played by Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, and Esai Morales. The trailer’s best feature is a sequence when Rebecca Ferguson’s Ilsa Faust is seen wielding a sword and wearing an eyepatch.
In Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, Tom Cruise will continue to perform his own stunts (and probably all the other Mission: Impossible movies to come). And he’ll be going to a whole other level this time.
Paramount Pictures revealed a film at CinemaCon 2021 that Cruise himself referred to as his “most risky stunt ever.” Cruise rides a motorcycle up a ramp and over a cliff, jumps off the bike, and then parachute to the ground in this scene.
The actor allegedly completed 1300 motorbike jumps and 500 hours of skydiving training in order to be ready for the stunt. The ramp that was built for the sequence was also built over the course of several months. And if that weren’t incredible enough, rumours claim Cruise attempted the trick six times before nailing it. It’s difficult to imagine how they’re going to surpass this for the following one short of launching Cruise into space on a rocket.
