Black Adam is getting his own film thanks to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The standalone film starring the villain/anti-hero is one of the most anticipated films of the year. It turns out that Black Adam was supposed to face off against Shazam in one of the films before The Rock stepped in.
Brief story
Black Adam, starring Dwayne Johnson as the title character, is not your typical DC Extended Universe superhero film (DCEU). Over 5000 years ago, Black Adam was given the powers of the mighty Egyptian gods, but he was imprisoned and buried in an earthly tomb, only to be freed centuries later. Despite being a superhero, his method of delivering justice in the modern world does not appear to be righteous to everyone, attracting the attention of the Justice Society of America (JSA). The society assists him in channelling and unleashing his powers, allowing him to become a superhero rather than a supervillain.

Who exactly is Black Adam?
He is the “evil” version of Shazam, played by Zachary Levi in the 2019 film Shazam. However, both Adam and Shazam are based on 1940s comic books.
