Babylon 2022: Brad Pitt Movie Review, Cast, Story, 2022 Release Date and Trailer
Damien Chazelle’s next American historical epic film Babylon is written and directed by him. The film is set in the Jazz Age of the 1920s, during Hollywood’s transition from silent to talkies, and stars Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Diego Calva, Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li, and Jean Smart.
The “Babylon” trailer, which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival, is set to become viral. The TIFF audience loved the trailer so highly that Bailey aired it again. Director Damien Chazelle revealed to TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey that the super-sized Hollywood epic, set in 1920s Los Angeles when silent films transitioned to talkies, isn’t completed. He’s in post-production, preparing for a December 25th release by Paramount.
About the Babylon 2022 Trailer
The trailer shows Robbie in a scarlet dress with wild hair madly unravelling among tableaux of Jazz Age bacchanalia. A intoxicated Brad Pitt is also seen tap-dancing in his undies. The sizzle is a fast-paced collection of shots, but one highlight is emerging actor Diego Calva, who looks to be the star and portrays a character named Manny Torres.
Expect a tale that delves into the many stages of transition, from the city to the industry and the individuals striving to make it big. As a prominent motif of his film, Chazelle refers to the “headlong, careless ambition” of the time. Not by chance, he considers Babylon to be his most ambitious effort to date: “It was undoubtedly the toughest thing I’ve done.” The practicalities of it, the number of people, the magnitude of the set pieces, the time period that the film charts, all conspired to make it exceptionally difficult, but it was a thrilling task to take on.”

Babylon 2022 Movie Critics
Babylon’ was by far the largest cast and the most roles I’ve ever juggled,” he stated. “The casting procedure took an extremely lengthy period. It’s a mainly fictitious film with fictional characters inspired by composites of real-life persons. When I was writing them, I was pulling inspiration from a lot of those real-life sources, but once you get to the casting stage, you’re simply looking for individuals to surprise you. That was the guiding principle: to deconstruct all preconceived assumptions about that era and those individuals, and to find performers who could portray that mood.
The majority of the characters in Babylon are made up, although Chazelle was inspired by real-life Hollywood personalities. Pitt’s character, Jack Conrad, is a hard-partying “uber-movie star” inspired by John Gilbert, Clark Gable, and Douglas Fairbanks: “He’s reaching a point in his life in his career where he’s starting to look back and starting to wonder what’s ahead.
Robbie plays Nellie LaRoy, a scrappy aspiring actress who is a cross between Clara Bow, Jeanne Eagels, Joan Crawford, and Alma Rubens. Nellie is a new Hollywood transplant who finds herself in the spotlight, an experience similar to the Wolf of Wall Street’s breakout. “Margot as a person has this loud, aggressive, hungry kind of edge to her that she was really able to dig into and do a lot of really interesting things with,” Chazelle adds.
