Officials at the White House declined to confirm al Zawahiri’s Dead. They said in a statement that the US conducted a “successful” counterterrorism operation against a critical al-Qaeda target, with “no civilian deaths.”
In an evening address from the White House on August 1, President Joe Biden stated that US intelligence personnel tracked al-Zawahiri to a residence in downtown Kabul where he was hiding out with his family. The operation was approved by the President last week and carried out on Sunday.

“This terrorist leader is no longer with us,” he added.
